Sally Yates

Although I am not for Trump, nor for Hillary for that matter, the DOJ as the legal representative of the Govt of the day, has a duty to represent the Govt and to advance and protect its interest, as in the case of a lawyer representing his or her client's interest. A govt official obligated to maintain political neutrality means that he or she has to carry out the policy of the Govt of the day, whether he or she likes the policy or not, otherwise, his or her own political stance would appear to prevail over the Govt's stance, especially when the President was duly elected (like it or not). Of course, one might argue that Sally Yates was not talking about policy stance, as she was talking about legal points of views. However, there are always two sides of legal opinions in any legal dispute. To say that something is definitely wrong without first presenting all arguments with full force smacks of professional negligence. If Sally Yates had any doubts over the legal arguments, she should have consulted her senior or her client (namely the Govt), or should have stepped aside and let her colleagues think through all the issues involved and let them present the best arguments possible for her consideration, instead of stopping the due process in a high handed manner and making it public.
