Vice President Pence's speech on the Administration’s policy toward China is an attempt to salvage the loss of moral high ground suffered under President Trump. By portraying China as a monster adversary in a one-sided narrative, it provides a distraction for people to forget about their own domestic problems and to condone US hegemony and what it has done to the world, in particular, the Middle East, by CIA, and by war and destruction. In short, in order to stay on top the US ensures that it is never short of enemies. America first, as always.
